New Volunteers

We welcome individuals of all skill levels and ages to help out. If you’re interested in learning more about tools/sustainability/cool projects you can do yourself, or just help us guess what some of the more bizarre tools in the library do, then you should volunteer with us!

Our suggested minimum volunteer commitment is one 3-hour shift/month, where you will help out during our open hours. To thank you for this commitment to SeattleREconomy, we are happy to get you an in-kind (free!) membership! You can set your account up online and talk to a front desk volunteer about making sure you have an in-kind donation membership.

  • Benefits for volunteering 1 shift/month: tool library membership and access to our Ridwell bin.
  • Benefits for volunteering 3 shift/month: One free class or workshop open hours

Please fill out this form to volunteer or email info@seattlereconomy.org if you have any questions.

Volunteer Positions

You'll mainly be helping members check out tools and return them. You might also help folks get memberships. During slower times, you might also help add donated tools into our inventory.

Help keep our tools in people's hands and out of the landfill by fixing up tools. Don’t worry about any lack of tool knowledge, YouTube and the Internet are our best friends!

You'll work with members to fix and tune up bikes. We have lots of tools and handbooks handy for a variety of problems.

You will help guide members in the library wood shop. This might mean helping them out with projects or being around to ensure folks are safe. You could also start teaching workshop safety classes if you're interested.

We are working on expanding our outreach by tabling at events. This would mean you'd be helping us spread the good word of Seattle REconomy through a variety of outreach events.

If you like getting creative, then this is the volunteer position for you! Whether you enjoy photography, videography, writing, or anything else creative and fun, we would like your help spreading awareness of Seattle REconomy online.

Every now and then, we like to come together and beautify the space. We clean and organize the space together while eating some snacks!

Come in and spend some time sorting and organizing the space outside of our beautification efforts. Although these tools and this space are used a lot, we want to make sure that people feel safe and comfortable all of the time!

Special projects are things like building out new decorations or storage at the library, behind the scenes administrative tasks such as grant writing or inventorying tools. It's any one-off project that doesn't fall into the other categories.

If you'd like to volunteer with us, but you don't see any category here that interests you, we are open to suggestions. There is always room for growth, and we really appreciate your help!
